Another 40lbs+ fish on the bank this week! Rob Pierce had a session to remember when he used homemade baits to catch a trio of fish which will be remembered for a very long time! Rob had fish of 32lbs 12ozs, 34lbs 10ozs and a new lump at 40lbs 12ozs. All of Rob's fish came from the former syndicate which is still available for bookings on a day ticket; just call Paul on 07814060147 to book. On the Specimen Lake, the cat fish are stealing the show with anglers reporting multiple hits of big fish, mainly falling to halibut pellets or zig rigs. Darren White's 17lb fell to a mid water bait, Tony Pearce bettered his personal best three times in one session with cats of 16lbs 4ozs, 18lbs 2ozs and a 38lbs 11ozs fish and also added a brace of mirrors to 17lbs 8ozs which picked up our own Emperor branded baits supplied by Cornwall Baits; a ghost common of 28lbs 11ozs completed his haul in some style. Jamie Parr bagged a 39lbs 12ozs cat on Steve Renyard M-25 10mm pop ups which also accounted for a mid double common, but biggest of the week fell to Martin Lamburn with a sleek moggie of 57lbs 12ozs which tripped up over one of our Emperor baits!

Steve Renyard baits proved successful for other anglers this week; Paul Mallett had a 24lbs 15ozs mirror, Paul Evans used the same offerings to pick up a 25lbs 11ozs common. These baits have had an awful lot of positive results recently, Steve himself has taken fish to over 35lbs on them, so they are certainly worth bringing with you.

Aaron Lidstone had a trio to 20lbs on Pallatrax Jungle, John Deprielle netted a sample at 26lbs 12ozs, and finally, Louie Russell used Richworth boilies over pellet to catch a cat at 16lbs and a common at 18lbs...

Over on Aimee's Pool, the tench fishing is currently superb with anglers seeing big fish regularly hitting the net. Warren Lewis added a personal best 6lbs 8ozs tench to his 30lbs+ mixed net, Josh Lewis had tincas to 5lbs and Peter Elbourn also had a tench to savour when he weighed a 6lbs 2ozs specimen.

New 'runs water' Jo-Jo's opens on June 1st so a six hour test session by Dan Newman put twenty two fish to 15lbs on the bank! Jo-Jo's has been designed to offer excellent value for money at just £8 per day of £15 for 24 hours and has been stocked with carp to 26lbs. Dan used 'the method' with either corn or Pallatrax Sqaub baits on the hook; no need for complicated tactics, just sit back and wait for your alarm to squeal!

Elsewhere, the new shop is nearing completion so onsite tackle and bait sales will be enhanced and Emperor Lakes will soon be serving hot meals too! Catch report 12/05

This week has seen even more personal best captures around the lakes, so here is this week's latest news. On the former syndicate, now known as the Carp Lake, Kevin Pitfield landed a cracking common carp at 28lbs 2ozs, and Joseph Baldwin had the weeks biggest fish at 41lbs 5ozs! A superbly conditioned fish and a new Emperor Lakes 40lb'er which fell to a new Splash Baits pop up offering under test.....keep an eye out for Splash Baits Assassin! Mark Owen continued his run of superb form with a trio of big fish at 29lbs 8ozs, 30lbs 14ozs and 34lbs 3ozs all taken on Northern Specials white pop ups.

Over on the Specimen Lake, the catfish and eels have really started to feed well with a number of both falling to anglers. Andy Walsh's catfish at 36lbs 3ozs is a new best which fell to 30mm halibut pellets, Stuart Johnson also used halibut pellet to net a cat of 37lbs 6ozs and a smaller fish on Pallatrax Jungle baits and both Dave Wood and Mark Owen bagged double figure cats; Dave caught using Pallatrax Jungle, Mark on his favourite Northern Special pop ups. Gary Gray had three commons to 14lbs on Mainline Cell, and Malcolm Cuits used the same bait to catch fish to 17lbs. Our own Emperor Lakes branded baits are also doing very well; Russ Bates, Lee Ski, Karl Chapple and Ian Barlett all used them to good effect landing plenty of carp 19lbs 12ozs. Worm accounted for a new personal best tench at 6lbs 12ozs for Lee Sercombe, pepperami trapped a common carp for Richard Vanstone and the humble maggot picked up eels to 3lbs for Guy Bennett.

Another bait which has been catching well since its introduction at Emperor Lakes is the Steve Renyard Contrast range. Andy Nicholls' 27lbs 8ozs mirror took a liking to it, as did a carp of 16lbs 4ozs and a catfish of 20lbs! The Steve Renyard baits have seen an astonishing amount of fish falling for the baits, so they are definitely one to consider when you book your place.

Aimee's Pool is fishing exceptionally well with mixed bags to over 60lbs a regular feature; Dan Newman put at least that much in his keepnet, Martin Lamburn had 40lbs and broke his tench best three times in quick succession with fish of 5lbs, 5lbs 8ozs and 6lbs and Steve Sampson also got amongst the tincas with fish to 5lbs 10ozs. Corn, worm, pellet and maggots are catching well and Aimee's is an ideal place to bring the kids for their first fishing session; expect plenty of action!

Catch Report 05/05

It's gone mad down here at Emperor Lakes, the warm weather has really seen fish get on the feed and we have had several anglers with new personal best captures, some great pictures and loads of reports!

The Carp Lake saw bailiff Jamie Parr use the excellent Steve Renyard range of baits to net a pristine 26lbs common which picked up his 10mm M25 pop up bait, Steve Bell also bagged a brace of mirrors on similar baits at 27lbs 6ozs and 28lbs and then Dave Pierce chipped in with a common of 15lbs.... There have been some very big tench spotted feeding over marginal spots, so if you like the green fish, then a 12lbs specimen isn't an unreasonable expectation!

The Specimen Lake has seen carp and cats galore too; Pallatrax Jungle baits have taken their fair share with Dave Wood getting a 27lbs common and following that with 16lbs 10ozs grass carp, and Tony Pierce also used Pallatrax to tempt a common of 17lbs 12ozs. There have been some quality commons carp out across the fishery, but this lake has been giving up more than usual with fish of 17lbs 2ozs for Joe Neal, Karl Chapple had a 20lbs 2ozs lump on Mainline New Grange tipped with a small squid pop up and Jayne Owen took a 16lb'er on a Northern Special pop up. The same baits accounted for a fish of 27lbs 11ozs for Mark Owen who also grabbed a 13lb cat and then proceeded to hook into six more big cats on zig rigs, all of which smashed him up or slipped the hook! Martin Lamburn had a real haul which included a new personal best at 26lbs 8ozs, and fish of 13lbs 8ozs and 16lbs 8ozs all taken on our Emperor Lakes branded baits, and the final common of note fell to Liam Pellowe with another twenty at 22lbs. Liam then netted a new pb catfish of 30lbs which also took a shine to his Mainline Cell pop ups. Other cats reported include a mid double for Mike May, and a superb 58lbs 12ozs moggie falling to Steve Renyard Contrast baits for Russell Baker; unsurprisingly, another personal best!
